The final corollary of the abstract "all drugs show good inhibitory effects in the receptor binding site and can be considered effective inhibitors of Ebola virus" seems to contradict the findings of the paper. "Chloroquine, diphenoxylate, and amodiaquine" are reported as the drugs with the best docking, whereas "erythromycin and dirithromycin" have the weakest docking, due to their very high hydrophilicity. See the screenshot below:
The authors listed above did not write the paper, nor did we perform the work, nor have we ever contacted this journal about publishing our work. We were very surprised to see this 'paper' in print with our names associated it. Obviously we contacted the editor-in-chief to ask that it was removed from the journal website and to ask for an explanation. It was removed as a 'retraction' without further explanation.
The paper will be removed shortly from our institutional repository.
If you would like further information, please contact me directly.
Dear Martin McPhillie,
Thank you for engaging in this discussion. I appreciate that you say that none of the authors listed above wrote this paper and that you have asked for it to be removed. I also understand that the editor-in-chief decided to retract this paper without further explanation. I believe this can happen to anyone doing research.
However, this paper made its way into White Rose, the official repository of the University of Leeds. See the screenshot below:
