"Figure 2: ...Deconvuluted XPS spectra of (C) W 4f, (D) Mo 3d, (E) Se 3d, and (F) O 1s, elements present in WSe2/WO3-2 (nanorod synthesized at 200 °C) and MoSe2/MoO3-2 (thin rod agglomerated flower synthesized at 200 °C)."
The data points are the same in 2C and 2D, although used to fit two different families of functions.
Note that the same distribution of data points appears in other papers, ostensibly measured for other materials and assigned different binding-energy scales, and used to fit different families of functions, e.g. https://pubpeer.com/publications/488D59B462B4FBAEB4AEBA2190E265#2
The data points in 2E have also appeared in other papers, measured for other materials and used to fit different families of functions.
"Fig. 3. (A) Cyclic voltammetric run of ferrocynide using bare and nanohybrid-modified PGEs."
Paired with "Figure 1... (F) Electrocatalytic activity of doped and undoped graphene foam using potassium ferrocyanide as the electro-active probe molecule (Inset: camera picture of graphene foam obtained after calcination of graphene-Idli)." from Patra et al (2016). https://pubpeer.com/publications/C64749A8DE4EE82F4CE90AB6386BF9
The resemblance between curves is striking, especially when one family is overlaid on the other.

In "Fig. 5. (A) CV ... plots of GO, RGO@Fe, RGO@BMNPs and RGO@BMNDs-modified PGEs to show their electrocatalytic behavior" from Patra et al. (2016), https://pubpeer.com/publications/A3A5DF7DC48D7A4A4D9A48E2A4827B#2
the GO@BMNP and GO@BMND profiles seem to come from the same family of curves.

Are the timestamps different on these images. Perhaps the authors can explain, given how recent the paper is and since their images are presumably archived by date.

Retracted August 2019.
In communication to Nano Energy, the Dean of Linköping University has requested this retraction based on the results and conclusions of their investigation into misconduct in research.
According to the report from Linköping University, “complaints have been raised against Fig. 2A–D, Fig. 3A and Fig. 5C–E. There is also a complaint against inset B in Scheme S1 in the supplementary material. None of which is judged to have a reasonable explanation.”
This investigation concluded “beyond reasonable doubt that images have been manipulated and/or reused … with a clear intention to mislead”.
